What to expect

For many families, admitting a loved one into rehab can be one of the hardest and most emotional decisions they will ever make. At Breakthrough, we understand the fear, uncertainty, and desperation that often come with this choice. That is why we work hard to ensure that from the moment your loved one walks through our doors, both they and your family will feel safe, supported, and understood.

Our Teen Challenge program runs for 12 months and is designed to bring lasting change by addressing the whole person — body, mind, and spirit. The journey begins in Phase One, where the focus is on breaking free from addiction, building healthy habits, and addressing the root causes of destructive behaviours. Through a structured daily routine of morning devotions, classes, work therapy, mentoring, and group activities, residents begin to experience stability and purpose again. Phase Two prepares them for reintegration into the world outside, equipping them with the skills and confidence needed to rebuild their lives, restore relationships, and make a positive contribution to society.

We believe recovery is more than just stopping substance use. True transformation means healing emotional wounds, restoring mental clarity, developing strong moral values, and learning practical life skills that will sustain freedom long after leaving the program. Our staff and mentors, many of whom have walked this same path, offer guidance and encouragement every step of the way.

Above all, we want you to know that there is hope. We have seen countless lives restored, families reunited, and futures rewritten. No matter how hopeless things may seem today, at Breakthrough we believe that no one is beyond help and that lasting change is always possible.

Family Involvement

Family plays an important role in the recovery journey. Visits are permitted after six months, depending on a review of the client’s progress. Before that, communication is limited to phone calls, with clients allowed:

  • One outgoing phone call per month

  • One incoming phone call per month
(both beginning after the first three months)

Families can stay updated on their loved one’s progress by reaching out directly to our staff for information and guidance.

Beyond communication, families provide crucial support by offering encouragement, understanding, and patience. We’ll also guide you on how to best support your loved one in healthy and constructive ways.

It’s Not Too Late for Your Loved One

At Breakthrough, we believe no life is beyond the power of hope. Through a proven, faith-based recovery program, we’ve seen many walk free from drugs and alcohol—and rebuild trust with their families.
